Barry Weiss was born on February 11, 1951 in Demarest, New Jersey. He is the son of Rosalyn Weiss and Hy Weiss, and has one sibling, Joey.
Not much is known about his education, but he has been actively involved in antique collecting since he was 15 years old. He has concentrated on everything from classic automobiles to war treasures.
Barry has been divorced, but he hasn’t been in any relationship for 30 years. He has two children, Jack and Julie, and has one grandchild named Oliver. He presently resides in Los Angeles, California, living in a $1.8 million Beverly Hills mansion that was previously owned by the likes of Charlie Chaplin, Cecil B. DeMille and W.C. Fields.
Prior to becoming a reality television star, Barry and his brother owned an import-export produce company that was founded by his grandfather. In 2004, he appeared in a television movie documentary called “Motorcycle Mania III.” But he would become a household name for an entirely different reason.
In 2010, he was approached by executive producer Thom Beers to join the A&E hit reality television series “Storage Wars.” He became a featured cast member and was one of the show’s biggest stars for four seasons. When it was confirmed that Barry would not return for a fifth season, A&E announced that he would be starring in his own spin-off series called “Barry’d Treasure” – a year later, the network said he would appear in the spin-off series “Storage Wars: Barry Strikes Back.” Both projects lasted a single year.
Barry has kept a low profile since leaving the entertainment industry. He did recently catch up with TMZ, conceding that he has returned to his best profession: “a professional slacker.” Barry did admit that he wanted to host his own show about motorsports.
